I'm back!

Hello everyone! After a long break I am back to my blog. Feels good!

Some things have changed... for example now I am simply fabulous in first.

New grade, team leader, new team, and a very special group of students. So needless to say this year has been SUPER busy. But your girl is hanging in there!

So I've been trying to get myself back into a routine of balance and with that comes the task of blogging. I love my blog - but it was hard to commit my precious free time to it since I've been so busy at work but now, I feel ready.

I've totally rearranged my room and will be sharing all about that very soon! Hope everyone's year is off to a fabulous start and I will check back in soon.

Writing Center Bundles and Sight Words!

OKAY GUYS I'm here - for the tens of you who are listening ;)

Here's some stuff! It's good stuff too.

I've finished reworking one of my writing centers - stop I know it sounds pathetic, but it takes me a long time and I'm very busy drinking coffee and bossing around eight year olds all day.

So here's one...
Pardon the blurries but it's because I'm way to unskilled to know how to screenshot my work AND make that picture look good so... sue me. But anyway, if you would like to download my new Animal Writing Center hop on over to my TPT store and grab this incredible freebie! I say that it is incredible because it includes...
  • Adorable cover sheet
  • Directions card
  • Activity sheet
  • Five animal information cards
All of that, for free you say? WOW. Just download, print, enjoy! A cute folder or container would really make it pop and I would definitely laminate it for durability. Check back for more writing center activities and sight word cards as I finish them!

Big Things

It's that time.

That time of year when I start mentally planning for next year.

If you could see inside my head sometimes you'd probably need a nap - or a shot of booze - or both. My brain is a wonderful but exhausting place where I am constantly reworking, redoing, and reconfiguring.

I seriously feel like I'm in a constant state of searching for * perfect * containers. The brightest most amazing pillows. The thickest most durable laminating sheets. All that crap.

But truth be told - I love that crap. I've grown to love that crap. I used to hate it - because it's annoying and obsessive and expensive. But hey, if I'm going to be in a room for 8 hours a day then it better be just gorgeous. Or as close to gorgeous as I can get before I have to live in a cardboard box.

Anyway...

I've made some things! Some things for next year! And psssst... a little birdie (or two) has told me that I'm going to first grade! (Simply Fabulous in First? Nice ring to it.) So now I'm in SUPER HYPER MEGA OVERDRIVE to get everything ready for this new adventure!

So I've been doing a lot of updating - the first to get a facelift are these wonderful folders I inherited from a lovely teacher. They are fantastic writing center folders with all kinds of great activities, directions, materials, etc...

But.

They're old.

And in primary colors.

I just... can't.

Sooooo now I'm remaking them! Plagiarism? Whatever. It's probably fine as long as you don't fink on me. So I'm in the process of making all of these gorgeous writing center activities... it's time consuming but I think it will be a fabulous little bundle when I'm done.

Pretty! I'm still in the process of creating all of the other components to with each folder. I will also be doing some shopping around to figure out the best folder for the job. Has to be durable and pretty! Lots of exciting things to come, thanks for stopping by!

See you June 15th!

So I've hit the proverbial wall with this school year. Lack of motivation to do anything besides the normal routine and unfortunately that means blogging.

I'm hoping the creative juices will start flowing when the woes of this school year are over and all is calm again in the jungle.

Until then, my friends, I will be wrangling 42 squirmy second graders and guiding them toward their summer vacation.

Wish me luck. :)

April Things!

Long time no blog! Things have been SUPER busy at school and outside of school. End of the year evaluations, half marathon training (um 2 week countdown anyone?!), trying to be healthy, weekend getaways.

It's exhausting.

So here I am... hello! And you know what? The end of year countdown has begun! I believe we are at the 35 day mark. But who's counting?

3 5  d a y s  l e f t.

That is crazy to me! I swear, once we hit January, it's like a full-speed ahead blur and then BAM! It's June.

So I've been thinking a lot about next school year. Will I be in second grade again? Will I be in the same classroom? What will I change? Will I be as excited about next year?

And then I realized something - I mentally skipped summer!

How can I be so one-minded? Summer! Ah yes, of course, summer! That glorious time of nothingness in which I usually waste about 89% of my time.

I need an attitude adjustment when it comes to summer. I look forward to it SO much and then it is here and I am lost. I thrive in a structured environment therefore summer is always challenging for me. My best summers are when I am traveling. My favorite summer was traveling to the beach one week, then Europe for two weeks, then coming home, finding a new townhouse, moving in, and beginning my new full-time teaching job. It was busy and wonderful and stressful and fabulous.

I think I need to appreciate "free-time" a little more. Any suggestions for a slacker like me? The less I have to do the less I actually want to do. Perhaps I should do a little light scheduling for the summer months? A running schedule perhaps? Day trips? New adventures in cooking? Going paleo? No, just kidding, I love bread too much.

New life plan - stop skipping summer. Make it great! But how...
